Simply put, e-learning is electronic learning and typically means using a computer to deliver a course whether it's in a school, part of your mandatory business training or a distance learning course. Level 1 – Passive – No interaction: This level is also referred as the ‘click next’ style of learning. It has low level of interactivity, with lots of static texts and images. This is mostly page turner kind of course.
Level 2 – Limited interaction: This level allows the learners to have some control over their e-learning process. They can make simple interactions that may include: animations in form of charts, interactive screens like click to reveal or tabbed screens, clickable menus and drag and drop.
Level 3 – Moderate interaction: This level allows the learner to get actively involved in the learning process using animations, smart arts, interactive scenario based screens. Interactions may include extensive use of audio, video, transitions, animations, simulations, scenario-based questions and more. The knowledge checks would have some level of interactivity, such as writing a short answer in the given text.
Level 4 – Simulation: This level has the highest degree of interaction by the student. This level may include: interactive games, simulated job performance exercises, scenario based screens, branching scenario and show me try me concepts, customized audio or videos, stories and scenarios, as well as multimedia.
